Website Content, social media management, Photography and Project Management of Website Design
new website
I worked as the Communications Officer at the Kirk, and oversaw the development and launch of a new website.
I worked closely with our external designers, Laser Red, consulting on each stage of the website, and feeding back to internal staff and committees. I created, edited and added the majority of the content, including extensive photography.
The new website allows the Kirk to better display all the events it hosts (including concerts, festivals, and private functions), as well as showing in more detail the spiritual and community work carried out by the congregation. The new site also allows for a far greater showcase of the Kirk's exterior and interior, showing off the building as one of the best preserved churches in central Edinburgh.
social media
I overhauled all social media channels, launching a Twitter and Instagram feed, and doubling the Kirk's online audience in 9 months. Better engagement saw event attendance increase, with more than 150 people attending the annual 'Pet Blessing Ceremony' (up from around 60 the previous year), and also saw an increase in visitor numbers and custom at the Kirk shop.
I also worked with This Is Edinburgh for their History of Edinburgh in 101 Objects, a potted history of Edinburgh via famous and infamous spots around the city. The Kirk had two entries - a remnant of the Flooden Wall (which now sits in the Kirkyard) and the Tomb of John Bayne of Pitcarlie. Work included participating in co-ordinated social media 'thunderclaps' at set times, as well as sharing media resources, scheduling additional posts and regular communication with the Edinburgh 101 office.
